Photos
I love taking photographs. I take photographs of everything and anything. From fancy looking buildings and pieces of art, to crazy looking people on the street and funny signs. Sometimes they’re rubbish, but every so often I capture something really great.
Anyway, what ever I take gets put up on my Flickr page. I also post a selection of my best work on my photography blog - KJGarbutt Photography - and I’ll also post some of my favourites on here.
I’ve been very lucky to have had (as of December 2011) 61,376 views of my photos on Flickr and over 4,000 views of my Photostream page and I’ve had several requests to use my photos in travel guides, blogs and websites.
Let me know what you think. If you hate them, tell me why and I’ll try to improve. If you love them, shower me with praise.

Some of my best photographs…
Fountain, Edinburgh. This photo was taken on a short trip to Edinburgh a few years ago. It took a long time to get the light and amount of spray right but I think it is one of my best shots.
Rainbow Rose is a shot of a rose my girlfriend, B, received from her dad when she was ill. Neither of us had ever seen such a thing.
Garlic is a shot I took when I was experimenting with the Macro setting on my camera. I plan to have a series of similar shots with different household bits and pieces.
Presidential Squirrel was a shot I took when we were in Washington DC and were visiting the White House. This little guy was just sat happily on the front lawn of the White House. I half expected Secret Service to escort him from the premises.
Pier is a shot I took when visiting the beach one day.
Path of Stars was taken when I was in Rome with B. The stars created a ring around the courtyard of a government building.
Flower, was taken at the same time as Garlic. I was practising with Macro shots.
Lake District was taken when myself and my friends, Pele, Liam and Craig drove to the Lakes for a day out. In fact, that is Pele at the end of the pier.
Rain Leaf was taken in Sydney, Australia. We were in an Apple Store and as we left I noticed this one leaf on the glass canopy over the doorway.
Stamens is close-up Macro shot of a lilly. The detail isn’t as good as I would have liked, but it’s a good photo nonetheless.
Geese is a shot I managed to capture in Hyde Park. The geese were somewhat overly friendly and very inquisitive but I still had to tempt them with some bread.
New to Old…
I discovered the power of Photoshop a while ago and I’ve been playing around with it in an attempt to make some new photos look old, weathered and aged. I played around with some textures I downloaded from DeviantArt and added some scratches and film impurities. These are my first attempts at this kind of photoshopping. Hope you like.

iLife Posters…
I got the idea for these off a blog I used to read but can’t remember the name of it now. With some fancy jiggery pokery in Photoshop I managed to create one for each year at university and then one of a random selection of album artwork in my iTunes.
